Whitney can see an excellent amateur-built seismograph at the Nature Center 
in Rifle Camp County Park in West Paterson, NJ. Call 201 523 0024 to check 
visiting hours. Just across the NJ boarder in Palisades, NY is Columbia 
University's Geological Observatory which is the Eastern Networks seismic 
center with many professional seismographs. There is only one visiting day a 
week but I'm sure they would be happy to show Whitney their seismographs for 
his science fair project.
