The Smithsonian Institutions Global Volcanism Program has recently
released the enclosed interactive CD-ROM entitled Earthquakes and Eruptions
in collaboration with Alan Jones, research scientist at the State
University of New York Binghamton. This CD contains four programs and a
photo gallery that are accessed from the Main Menu: Earthquakes Through
Time, Eruptions Through Time, Smithsonian Exhibit Version, and Seismic
Waves. These powerful interactive programs sequentially plot global data
sets of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions since 1960 on colorful world and
regional physiographic maps, showing the dynamism of the Earth.

We trust you will enjoy this CD and make your colleagues and/or students
aware of its availability. Our advertising budget is limited and word of
mouth referrals will help us reach the educational arena where we think
