Dick,

I'm not sure how WinQuake could directly access the DMC and USGS QED
databases? WinQuake currently uses the UNIX finger service and a few HTML
pages to access the event lists. I just finished adding two new event lists
to the Event Report feature of WinQuake. They are
http://gldss7.cr.usgs.gov/neis/qed/qed.html and
http://quake.wr.usgs.gov/cgi-bin/quake/seismo.nrcan.gc.ca. I hope to have a
beta release ready in a week or so.

One thing I have been thinking about is to contact Alan Jones too see if
WinQuake could use the near real-time database used by his SeisVol program.
The new version of SeisVol has the ability to access an event database over
the net. I believe the database is at binghamton.edu.
