Hi there Jan,

       Enlightenment comes in many ways! Round here, you only have to ask....

       Lead weighs 0.408 lb / cu inch ---> 5 lbs = 12.25 cu in

       For anyone thinking of making a copper plate 'weight', which can be 
directly damped using a magnetic field,

       Copper weighs 0.322 lb / cu in.
