Keith,

I was really pleased to see your description of your vertical seismometer.
I have been thinking about building one also, but some of the details in the
original plans have been unclear to me.  Your photos make the whole
enterprise look much less daunting than I had thought.  The one detail that
is still not clear to me is the design of the hinges at the ends of the
spring.  I wonder if you have comparably clear photos of them that you could
add to your web page?
