I have successfully run RS-232C cables of 100 feet in length.  I might also=
=20
suggest you
consider a RS-232C extender (which uses CAT5 cable between two converter=
 boxes)
such as that offered by Minicom:  http://www.minicom.com/kvm_232.htm
There are others available as well:

What others have done is to extend the GPS antenna coax rather than the=20
RS-232 cable and put the receiver next to the A/D.
