    It is very unlikely indeed to damage your  geophones. Your house would 
probably blow away first..!

There  are not many trees near the house. There are few, but nothing that
shields  the house from the wind.
    It is not the shielding that matters, but the  swaying coupled to the 
ground via the roots.
