conservation of angular momentum might also influence things even if the
orbit was changed (temporarily). Kepler's laws of motion are kind of
against you too. You also have a cancellation effect caused by the
jumping forces being on opposite sides of the planet, sort of.
It's more like 1st of April stuff, though to set up a website just for
that is a bit extreme...

The Earth's mass is app 6.10^24 kg. The population is
6.6.10^9. If the average weight were (guess) 50 kg, this would make
3.3.10^11 kg. This gives a ratio of 1.8.10^13 which is slightly small.
Perhaps one should look at what other motives there could be
for promoting this event?
