To make my GPS card work, I had to move it to an upper window and mount the
antenna outside. This required about 50' of RS-232 cable. To minimize
cables and power supplys, I used two wires in the RS-232 cable for the GPS
power which I tapped from the data-acquisition computer. It has been
working fine for years.
