Hi All -

 

I found an interesting article on the Albuquerque Seismological Laboratory
web site about reducing background noise with sand.  The link to article is:

While the article addresses the work that ASL performed with borehole
sensors, the use of sand appears to be applicable to any sensor that is
placed in the ground.
