Hi Keith,

       First off, 'wipe' the inside of the gap with a round mild steel rod 
several times. This will pick up most of the filings. Then you press on and peel 
off strips of Gaffer Tape, using a wood spatula. This has a rubber based 
adhesive which is good at picking up and removing dust, dirt and magnetic 
particles.
