Hi Jón,

You might be interested to look at this image:

It's a scattergram of earthquake locations mapped onto the earth's surface and 
a plot showing the depth of the quakes along a line perpendicular to the major 
fault.

I'm sure you'll be able to find similar plots for Iceland.
