Yes, those mines are diamond mines
typically very dangerous work because
of a thing called Rock Bursts and
a rock burst itself might appear as a 3
or so earthquake.
They are very deep hot dangerous misearable work
from what i understand for those diamond miners.
It is not uncommon for miners to die that way
in South Africa. Here in Arizona they (Miners)
even talk about Rock Bursts
but i think they are worse the deeper you mine.
I do not know of any Arizona Mines over a mile deep
like they have in South Africa.

There have been instances of there mines did trigger earthquakes, some
up to mag 5.0. Once such insdent was recorded in South Africa few years
ago. However, I can't tell in this case.
