I just tried using a round "donut" neodymium magnet pressed on the end of a 
ball point plastic shank, not the ink tube, but the pen itself.

Thereby, having the complete pen suspended by two stacked rectangular 
neodymium magnets and having an attached magnet to the pendulum (pen shaft) 
on the opposite end.

I passed the circular magnet through a coil of  bulk  wire, and got a meter 
deflection.  It was minute, but possibly usable if amplified.

No, Dr. Peters, I do not see an answer to my previous post.  Sorry!   I've 
only had one cup of coffee this morning. (Smile)
