Below is a web page reference to a possible useful coil drop down (from the
boom) approach
you might consider to use with your possible 4 neodymium magnets and plates
setup.  It could
be considered "risky" for the coil but thats dependent on your visual
alignment skill.  The same approach
can be used with any dampening plate.
