I was just watching this show on how it works
and they dissected an electric guitar it uses
magnets to set up a steady field which is
disrupted by a vibrating string.
Has anyone tried using such a pickup for
sensing the motion of a pendulum ??
They say there is a considerable amount of
copper wire used in the pickup...it may be more
sensitive than the common magnet and coil ??

I'm always looking for a new CHEAP passive way to
 sense seismic waves.
