That’s Nifty,
I have heard ice related sounds in the North Pole area ( I think)
and they can very strange sounding. Not just craking
but also strange and errie sounds via hydrophones.
Must be related to stresses and strains.
It would be nice if you could hear such things to warn
of an Impending Earthquake.

Put a microphone to a rock in the lab
then put it under stress looking for
sounds up to 1Mhz or so ??

geoff

I am not familiar with helium.... how deep and what rock formation is it
in?I am thinking that fracking isn't the problem, it is the waster water
they put back in the ground that is causing the problem. If you
noticed, the depth of some of these wells goes below 6000ft...maybe a
geologist can satisfy your question. There were two more over mag 2
quakes before the end of the 13th today.

I won't be getting too many good records for a few days . Unlike the
last time, the geese didn't keep the lake opened and it is now solid
ice. You go out and listen and you will hear the ice snap and crack like
gunfire. Sure messes up a good seismic record real quick. How about
sending me some of that above normal temperatures from down there?
