Maybe. One of the machines will have to play the role of a router.
With Windows I think that is called "Connection Sharing" or some such
(sorry, don't use Windows). The computer that now connects to the net
needs to be configured to share its connection. Other computers (like
the one you are using to record onto) then sees the net through the
connection sharing one. Here is some information on sharing the net
connection:

You may need an Ethernet cable with reversed pairs (crossover cable)
since you do not want to put an Ethernet switch between the two boxes.

Also note that the net connected computer will need two NIC cards - one
to connect to the net (cable MODEM, DSL MODEM, or whatever you now have)
and one to connect to the computer that is sharing the connection.

You need to use TCP/IP for all of this.

Coax was what DEC called "pandemonium on a wire" since the wiring was
done daisy chain fashion. For each network section several computers
were trying to communicate over the same physical wire. The Ethernet of
today (4 twisted pairs in the CAT-5 cable) is strictly point to point
and avoids the collisions of yesteryear.

Good luck.
