I just finished reading the book, Oasis In Space - Earth History from the B=
eginning by Preston Cloud, WW Norton and Co. I have always been curious abo=
ut earth's history and wanted to get more information on how minerals for m=
ining, coal and oil were formed. This book gave me all this information and=
 much more. It starts out 4.6 billion years ago as earth first formed. Ther=

it was hell. The early earth day was only 6 hours and the moon was much clo=

ved. The author mostly describes geologic history, volcanoes, earthquakes a=
nd plate tectonics. Earth had quite a history and it really is an Oasis.
