A thought on measuring this would be similar to comparing two instruments.
Build two circuits in one instrument case and use a single leaf spring of
double length with a central support.  We would have the exact same input
and the circuit noise could be balanced by switching electronics end so to
speak to leave mechanical noise.  Different materials or samples of the same
material could be compared left end to right end or top side to bottom side
reversing the stress in the same sample.  Minor setup error should be some
constant ratio and the noise random.  Adding variable offset in the feedback
could also provide different levels of stress by lifting or pulling the mass
up or down to test noise in relation to the strain amount.
