If it is a quake it will be deeper and have a earthquake signature
rating of good to excellent ...BUT, I believe there is an old fault
which is believed to run from around Sparks OK toward and into
southwestern South Dakota

I’ve researched a bit more on drilling and I don’t believe there is any relation here.  There are 3 old wells in the 6 to 10 thousand foot range but all are listed as wildcat dry holes in the state records.  The nearest production appears to be about 15 miles northwest. http://denr.sd.gov/des/og/maps/fallriver.gif  The quakes are in sec 35 of 11S 5E.  Looking at the USGS sites there seems to be a pattern of historical activity roughly following the Nebraska South Dakota border and these would fit that pattern http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/states/south_dakota/seismicity.php
