Hi Everyone,

Happy belated New Year. I discovered today that I have not been receiving PSN-L list
messages for at least 2 months. It turns out that an alias email address I use to
receive PSN-L messages was not working. I was wondering why the list was so slow...

Anyways, I have a new release of WinSDR ready that fixes the replay year problem some
WinSDR user have been having with version 4.1.x. More information about the release
can be found here: http://www.seismicnet.com/winsdr/winsdr4x.html

Here are some of the highlights of the release besides the bug fix.

1. WinSDR now has the ability to create a derived or addition channel from one of the
raw A/D channels. A derived channel is treated the same as a channel from the A/D
converter board except it gets the data from one of the main A/D channels. This way
the user can do things like filter or period extend the channel and also save the raw
data from the sensor at the same time.

2. Real-Time Period Extension Filter. One of our list members, Bob McClure, has
developed some code that performs an inverse filter on PSN files that can extend the
period of a sensor. A while back I converted his code from VB to C++ so I can use it
in WinQuake and WinSDR. More about Bob's filter can be found here
http://www.jclahr.com/science/psn/mcclure/filter_examples/index.html

3. WinSDR now uses a different file name format for the daily record files. Older
version used the Julian date ( 1 to 365/366 ) and the new version has the full date
as part of the file name. Example: sys1.20120126.dat

4. Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the program are now available. You will need a
64-bit OS ( WinXp-64, Vista-64 or Win7-64) to run the 64 bit version.

What's not working on this beta release is the client/server feature between two
copies of WinSDR. Currently the TCP/IP Server feature only sends out data in the
MiniSEED format. WinSDR in the TCP/IP Client mode can't receive this packets so this
feature will not work. I'll get this working again in upcoming releases.

Regards,
