What I did was put an aluminum ground plane on
top of a 7 foot pvc pipe then mount the
GPS unit to the ground plane then place the pole
beside the computer then make sure the
ground plane was level with a small
bubble level thingy.
The GPS sits maybe 7 feet higher
than the floor above most human activity.
has functioned well since then.

Wow, as i type this a new teleseismic wave arrived
at this location.
