A ground plane does not need to be grounded
to anything since it represents something
like a mirror to EM waves in the right frequency range
I just wanted the real earth ground to be
invisible to my activities close to the antenna.
I know radio waves can behave in funny ways.
I'm not sure what frequency GPS is received on
So i just cut a plate of aluminum about twice the
diameter of the GPS receiver itself
Then mounted the receiver on top of the plate
using that screw in the middle of the device.
Most probably the GPS is circular polarized
bit i think that's not important for a shield.
All i know about radio stuff.
Id like to build a 10MHz vertical quarter wave
but the radials exceed the property boundaries
I need to place them.
If someone knows of a good 10MHz
tuned antenna for WWV which one may
build himself Id sure like to
see the plans.
I might put a 10 MHz three element yagi-Uda on my roof.
I still like to keep options
even if they are old and outdated
since this new technology is
prone to being easily destroyed.
Regards,
geoff
