Here are some more details of my QM-4.5LV school seismometer design
http://www.infiltec.com/seismo/inf-qm45.htm

The goal of my QM-4.5LV geophone system design is to approach
AS1 performance while keeping the retail price under $300.

I think Angel in Panama has serial #1, and about 100 have
been shipped to individuals, companies, and schools all over
the world. The design has evolved over the years, primarily
due to finding better components and improved packaging.

I recently sent a QM-4.5LV to IRIS for evaluation, and one to the
UK equivalent of IRIS, but I have not gotten any feedback
yet. I also shipped one to a school in MN recently that
has used an AS1 for years, and they plan to do a side-by-side
comparison. This school said they are having trouble getting
repairs to their AS1 electronics, so I sent them an evaluation
unit of my QM-1.0 seismometer electronics that is designed for
use with the AS1 or Lehman sensors. There is a requirement
that schools in India have seismographs, so I have shipped
a number to India.

WOW, that is nice performance that puts my QM-4.5LV to shame.

I guess that is to be expected when you make compromises like
I have to keep the QM-4.5LV price low.

Ciao,

Dave
