Subject: DRUM INK RECORDER

I have repaired my Teledyne-Geotech helicorder to work while Larry is =
repairing and upgrading my amp board. Had to cobble together a number =
of part fixes including the clutch drive, pen, and ink supply. However, =
the most important ingredient was on this list in a very comprehensive =
how to outline dated Oct. 27, 2009 by George Bush with additional tips =
from Steve Hammond. With that guidance the instrument started recording =
with ink, on my first attempt and has not stopped. Which brings me to =
my question from anyone with experience with ink recording. When I get =
my amp board back, I plan to use the helicorder as a back up but am =
concerned that ink inside the pen will dry and clog the pen if I just =
shut it down. Perhaps, if I fill the ink bottle with distilled water =
and let it run a while before shutting it down will prevent a clogged =
pen and it will be ready again when needed. I assume the capillary =
action will work with water as well as ink. If any list members have =
had this or a similar situation I would be interested in how you =
addressed or solved it.
Thanks
