Possibly one event is deeper than the other.

Possibly the velocity or the path is slightly different.

Possibly your time keeping is not steady.

Since most evaluations are done by educated guesses:
I would put an error to the data on the order of miles.
No matter how accurate and precise things are said to be.
Only through objective measurement With good equipment
can one be sure of anything.

This says nothing about your setup since Im only speaking
in a general sense.

Since the USN at the academy is never sure of the
exact time, then how can anything be exact.
You just need a brass indian whose nose you can
rub for good luck before you state the facts.
