I just ordered the following from NewEgg

SABRENT Model SBT-FTDI 6 ft. USB 2.0 to Serial (9-pin) DB-9 RS-232 
Adapter Cable 6ft Cable (FTDI Chipset)

To work with your type III a/d board.

Is this the same type as you recommend.

I still get terrible results with the Prolific (Siig) model im now using.

It seems either RFI or background processes are interfereing with serial 
communications
on this Win7x64 machine.
