I have seen large generators swap a load
and it is my bet that's what happening when
you see a quick momentary glitch in the power.

The electrician will use an oscilloscope to
match up the waveform of the two generators
before switching the load between them.

If it is not done exactly right very bad
things can happen even to the point
where a large generator will rip
from it mount and go rolling across the
room hurting or killing anyone in its way.

Then there can be a ball of plasma
form which can follow you if your move
it floats in the air like a balloon
but much more dangerous.

I think a UPS is a wise investment if you
want to try and protect your equipment.
But even then Lightning can destroy
the battery itself if the strikes are
too close.

But in any case, the new FTDI ? device
seems to be functioning flawlessly
ever since I installed it.

thanks for telling me about it Larry.
