Subject: Pole & Zero tool

Hi All,

Someone mentioned wanting to know more about poles and zeros as used
with seismometers which encouraged me to clean up an Excel workbook
I'd made for myself to help me use them for describing ours. I was
using the pole and zero information to run a noise modeling program
but I believe that it is the same information contained in dataless
SEED headers and in other systems that require seismometer response
data in P&Z form.

The file is at: http://bnordgren.org/seismo/Poles&Zeros.zip

Included is a three-page document of instructions on how to get
started using Poles & Zeros with the Excel workbook. It was written
to include as much useful description in as few words as possible and
it deals entirely with the "how" of using P & Z, and says practically
nothing about what they are or where they come from. Purists please
be forewarned.

If anyone finds typos or other errors, or if something is worded
unclearly or needs to be expanded, please let me know.

Regards,
Brett
