Hello,

the article in the BBC link is quite exaustive and seems to do not miss
the keypoint:

"...Prosecutors said the defendants gave a falsely reassuring statement
before the quake, while the defence maintained there was no way to
predict major quakes..."

The word of the defence point the guilt of the accused.
"...there is no way to predict major quakes..."
so this imply there is also
"...no way to predict there will be NO major quake..."

this what the people charged are did.
I personally know eye-witnesses who saw Civil Defense people telling the
people "go home..., don't worry..."

There is no prosecution against science.
There is prosecution against political and power games inside the
corrupted italian government and research institutions.

I am italian and i am sad to admit Italy has the same corruption grade
of Ghana (with deep respect for all people from Africa).
Here in Italy we also have the same freedom of press of Iran.
But believe me, I am also partially eye-witnesses of some facts of the
l'Aquila quake, these people are guilty.

I am not agree with the same grade of penalty that has been assigned.
Some of the people charged are more guilty some other less guilty.
But remember they key is you must NEVER force people to do what the
commens sense says different.

best regards
Mauro
