Yes, absolutely.  It's important to science (and democracy for that
matter) that opinions can be expressed freely.  Science does not offer
answers like religion.  Science only demands that a claim can be
disproven, which obviously happened here though the error may not be
outrageous if it is the case that there has been no M6 quakes in the
area during the past 2-3000 years of known history (I don't know)
until this year,

If the public don't know how science works, they should not ask a
scientist for an opinion, neither a bad or good one.--
