Subject: Re: Oregon USA: Is the coast of Oregon a Scarp?

This was 1975 or so:
Chief and I were going from FLTASWTRACENPAC
to Bremerton Washington.
VIA Highway 101.

After looking on the Internet and Google Earth
I think it was in the Northern half of the State.

I am amazed that I am unable to locate the exact area.

There are no Internet photos which i can find
which gives justice to my memories.

This irritates me since it was vertical cliffs near the roadway (101)
with lots of miles between towns.

It was a relatively beautiful forested section of the road to drive,
practically, right along the edge of a vertical cliff.

I remember an Oregon Police Officer pulled us over to
check my Honda 550s registration. But not at the site which
is what I am thinking about.

At that time I wondered what forces created that
steep cliff which made me think of
the White Chalk Cliffs of Dover England.
But these Oregon cliffs looked like solid rock.

Sorry I cant be more Specific.

Regards,
geoff

***************QUESTION BELOW****************

So Now, the question becomes:
Are there any sections of
the Northern Half of Oregon,
where Highway 101 meets the
Edge of a vertical cliff cloaked
in forest at the Pacific
Ocean, which is a relatively
fresh (geological terms),
an Earthquake Scarp.
A VERY HIGH Scarp.
Not two meters high but, more like
60 meters high?
