Hi James,

=20

As Chris Chapman states the problem is most likely the =91zero=92 value =
in
Amaseis.

It should be the average value that you see from your DAQ card.

=20

Hi pass filtering can also/ is the cause of this (spike) and is related =
to
incorrect setting of the Zero level(s).

 ,=20

=20

If the problem is =91incorrect zero level setting=92 then proceed and =
check /
set as follows.

=20

To set it up.

=20

Run  Amaseis=20

Under =91Settings=92

Click =91Set Zero Level=92 and set to 0, click ok

=20

Under Settings

Click =91Show Data Values=92 , have a look at the values shown here.

This is the actual signal values your digitizer is sending Amaseis.

The average signal should be a power of 2.

(You may need to unplug the instrument from your Digitizer card to get
values that make sense.)

If the value isn=92t a power of 2 or very close to a power of 2 , then =
adjust
the zero pot on the channel of your digitizer board.

=20

Now, this value is the =91zero=92 or =BD way value from your digitizer =
and is the
value that needs to be entered into the =91Set Zero Level=92.

=20

Go back to the =91Set Zero Level=92 and enter this value. Click Ok

=20

Now plug your instrument back in and go back into =91Show Data Values=92 =
.. You
should see numbers either side of zero and your problem (if it was this)
should be fixed.

=20

Let us know

Hope this helps

Hi, Can anyone suggest what might be causing a large spike (Data Value) =
when
the screen refreshes in Amaseis=20

 Every hour - on the hour?.

I am using a dataq 194rs and running windows 7, =20

  There are no background programs running,=20

I just cant think what it could be! Any thoughts would be greatly
Appreciated!

Hi = James,

=A0,

If the problem is ‘incorrect = zero level setting’ then proceed and check / set as = follows.

To set it = up.

Run =A0Amaseis =

Under = ‘Settings’

Click ‘Set Zero Level’ = and set to 0, click ok

Under = Settings

Click ‘Show Data = Values’ , have a look at the values shown here.

This is the actual signal values = your digitizer is sending Amaseis.

The average signal should be a = power of 2.

(You may need to unplug the = instrument from your Digitizer card to get values that make = sense.)

If the value isn’t a power of = 2 or very close to a power of 2 , then adjust the zero pot on the channel of = your digitizer board.

Now, this value is the = ‘zero’ or =BD way value from your digitizer and is the value that needs to be = entered into the ‘Set Zero Level’.

Go back to the ‘Set Zero = Level’ and enter this value. Click Ok

Now plug your instrument back in = and go back into ‘Show Data Values’ . You should see numbers either = side of zero and your problem (if it was this) should be = fixed.
