Bonnie,

Do you use a PC? Is it possible to use a DOS window?

If you install java on a PC, then I could write

a simple program that would periodically check for new events in

California and sound an alarm if one is reported. Then you

could listen to the file of recent events to get the coordinates,

time and location. The file format would be like this,

which is the "finger" format. These are the last two events reported

by Caltech.
