Hi George (and all):
This sounds really interesting, but unless you have some very special
inside connection, you may be disappointed. The Marines have been carrying
out an extensive live-fire exercise in the area. This combined with the
fact that the area of the earthquake rupture is littered with unexploded
ordnance means that they have been *extremely* restrictive in allowing
access to the site, by ground or by air. I have heard of a couple people
who tried to gain unauthorized access and were detained.
So I hate to be a wet blanket, but you may want to consider this first.
