Hi all,

I placed a resistance parallel with the coil, but the damping
does not seem to occur. The problem is, the pendulum keeps swinging
(sometimes even visibly!) and for now it did not had any plans to
cease its motion.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Marchal van Lare

Marchal,

Have you tried just shorting the coil terminals to see how much damping you get
with zero ohms of resistance? If you don't get any damping effect with the
coil shorted you do not have enough coupling between the coil and the
magnet. You will have to try decreasing the gap between the coil and
magnet and/or increasing the strength of the magnet.
