Hi Everyone,

I have a new release of WinSDR available on my web site. See this page for
the download link http://www.seismicnet.com/winsdr/. The current version is
2.0.1 with a release date of 2/25/02. This release fixes several bugs I and
others have found with WinSDR. At this point I'm holding back on adding any
new features. What I want to do is to make sure that all of the current
features are working properly before I add anything new to the program. When
your get the time please upgrade to the new version. If you run into any
problems (big or small) please send me an email.

Here's what I fixed in this release;

I found a problem with the new digital filtering feature. I was using one
buffer to hold the filter information between the real-time data coming from
the A/D board and the historical display information. The transition between
the historical data and the new real-time data would sometimes cause the
channel to go into an alarm state. I now use two filter buffers....All in
all I think that filtering the data before it goes into the event detection
process helps a little to reduce the false alarm rate. On my test WinSDR
system I have one 1 hz vertical sensor connected to it. By applying a 1.5 hz
4 pole lowpass filter to the data most of the local ground noise is filter
out. Unfortunanly this filtering does not filter out large freight trains
going by since they can generate information in the 1 hz range.

I noticed that the "Auto Save" check box I the channel settings was not
working correctly. The code that saves event files was not checking to see
if this setting was on or off so event files were always being save
regardless of this setting.

I fixed a problem with changing the number of channels to record or the
sample rate and gif file generation. When you change the number of channels
to record or the sample rate the daily record file format changes. The code
that draws the gif images did not check to see if the number of channels or
sample rate has changed in the record file. As with the replay window, the
gif file creating process can only use the current number of channels to
record and sample rate record files. Now the gif file generation process
will skip any record files not created using the current record channels and
sample rate.

There is one thing new with this release. The state of the "Display Filtered
Data" menu item (under the View menu item) is now saved in the winsdr.ini
file. If you restart WinSDR the item will be on or off depending on the
state when you exited the program.
