Jan and others,

I am currently working on the GPS documentation for WinSDR. The next release
will include more documentation on using a GPS receiver with WinSDR. In the
mean time here's some information on the debug lines:

will look it up.

These A/D GPS - Adj lines indicates that the A/D board is adjusting the time
adjustment interval needed to keep the A/D board's time locked to GPS or UTC
time. See
http://www.seismicnet.com/WinSDR/dialogboxs.html#Time%20Adjust%20Mode for
more info on the time adjustment interval.

Lck: is the time the A/D board has been locked to GPS time in days, hours
and minutes or 1 day, 5 hours and 51 minutes.
Dif: is the time difference in milliseconds between the A/D board time and
GPS time.
Adj: is the number of 1 milliseconds adjustment made to the A/D board time
to keep it near GPS time. See note below.
Sat: The number of visible and tracked satellites used by the GPS receiver
for time keeping.
Old and New Numbers: This is the old and new time adjustment interval in
milliseconds.

>03/03/02 17:28:27 A/D: GPS - Time: Diff:-6 VSat:10 TSat:7
>03/03/02 17:28:27 A/D: Time - Old:372294 New:346495 DiffAvg:-6 Adj:305
AdjAvg:-311
This indicates that the time difference between the A/D board and UTC is
greater then 6 milliseconds and the A/D board has reset and recalculated a
new time interval. This happens whenever the difference gets greater then 6
milliseconds.

Diff: is the time difference.
VSat: is the number of visible satellites and TSat: is the number of tracked
satellites. This number indicates the number of satellites used for time
keeping in the GPS receiver.
Old and New Numbers: This is the old and new time adjustment interval time
in milliseconds.

>03/03/02 17:33:27 A/D: GPS - Time Not Set: Lck:00:05 Diff:1 Adj:305 VSat:10
TSat:8
If the time difference between the A/D board is less then 2 milliseconds,
you will see this message.

>03/04/02 18:06:59 Settings Local Computer Time: 258
This message is from WinSDR, all of the other message above came from the
A/D board. You will see this mesage if the Set Computer Time check box is
checked in the System Settings dialog box. If enabled, WinSDR will check the
time difference between the A/D board and the computer running WinSDR. If
the time difference, the number displayed in the message, is greater the
then 250 milliseconds (1/4 of a second) WinSDR will set the computer time to
the A/D board's time.

While looking at Jan's log file I noticed a big problem. The Adj: number
should be reset to 0 when the A/D board resets the time. I have corrected
this problem in the A/D board firmware code. I will be releasing a new
version of WinSDR and the A/D board firmware in a day or two.
