Dear J=F3n

I born and grow up in the Azores. I'm PhD student on earthquake =
engineering with strong background on volcanology.=20

In the Azores volcanic gases are concentrated on some areas such as =
Furnas, Rib.=AA Grande Caldeiras, both in S.Miguel island, Furnas do =
Enxofre on Terceira Island and Furna do Enxofre on Graciosa Island. Most =
of volcanic gases are CO2 but sometimes some SO2 (or other S products). =
The area with hazard for human life is Furna do Enxofre in Graciosa, =
because SO2 emanations are in a cave that is visitable. Nevertheless the =
cave is monitoring in continuous.

About gravity monitoring is not a suitable technique to monitoring =
volcanoes =85 unless you have a good quantity of resources available =
(people and money). Micro-gravity is the technique suitable to survey =
active volcanoes and it's expensive because the survey involves =
repeated measurements of gravity change and deformation at a network of =
stations in and around the active crater or caldera.

Feel free do ask anything about the Islands.=20

Best regards,
Jo=E3o Fontiela
